SmartDeFi and FEG launch innovative platform in emirate
The company manages the conglomerate's operations in the Lower Gulf territory, covering the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, Qatar, Oman and Yemen. He succeeds Joachim Kundt, who has returned to Munich to take over responsibilities for Siemens operations in the larger Middle East, Africa and CIS states region.
The new appointment comes as Siemens gears itself up for a major thrust in expanding their presence in the region. The company is already one of the largest in the UAE, with nearly 900 employees from 48 nationalities.
Business has also expanded over the years with the five countries of the lower gulf accounting for over EUR600 million in sales for Siemens last year. The company already has plans to top the billion Euro mark by 2007.
Peter Fuchs, said: "The expansion plans we have set for ourselves are based on the current and projected growth of our regional markets. The infrastructure growth in countries like the UAE, Qatar, Oman and Bahrain are extremely promising and we plan on playing as significant a role in this development, exactly as we have over the past decades."
"We are confident that we can be a positive partner for development here," says Fuchs.
Siemens recently won the contract for the Command and Control Centre for the Dubai Police, underlining its status as a major player in the security technology sector.
