SIA receives first flight in new hall

SHARJAH — Sharjah International Airport received the first flight in the new arrival hall on Tuesday. Passengers landed with the Air Arabia flight ABY G9 122 from Kuwait and were welcomed by the airport's staff with red roses. A small reception was organised with flowers and giveaways being distributed to passengers along with refreshments.

Several officials were there to welcome the first passengers including Dr Ghanem Al Hajri Director General Department of Civil Aviation and Sharjah Airport Authority, airport directors, representatives from the airport police, airport immigration, airport customs, DUFRY, Bin Laden group (contractor for the project), GHD — the consultants and designers of the phase, Projacs — the project management company and other airport's clients.

The Arrival Hall space is increased from 90 square metres to 500 square metres and is one phase of Sharjah International Airport Expansion project which once completed will accommodate 8 million passengers annually.
