Shaikha Lubna awarded Italy's highest order

ABU DHABI -Shaikha Lubna Al Qasimi, UAE Minister of Foreign Trade, has been awarded Italy's highest order. Italian President Giorgio Napolitano, awarded the UAE minister the “Star of the Italian solidarity" order in recognition of her contribution in boosting cooperation between the UAE and Italy.

Italian Ambassador, Paolo Dionisi, decorated Shaikha Lubna with the order and presented her a certificate of merit in a special reception he held here yesterday at his residence. A number of dignitaries, including top political, economic and cultural personalities, as well as a large number of media persons, attended the ceremony.

In a statement, the Italian ambassador said the Italian president awarded the order to Shaikha Lubna in recognition of her efforts in boosting economic ties between the UAE and Italy. He described Shaikha Lubna as “a great friendly of Italy’.

He congratulated the UAE minister for the award, which is the highest order being awarded by the president of the republic of Italy to distinguished foreign personalities.

In a statement of appreciation, Shaikha Lubna expressed profound gratitude and appreciation for the award. “This award is a message of love, appreciation and friendship from the president, government and people of Italy to the UAE and its people," she said.

"It's a great honour to the UAE and a strong expression of interest by the republic of Italy to boost its partnership with the UAE at the highest level," she added.

Shaikha Lubna made a brief presentation on the UAE's economy in which she explained that the UAE is witnessing a major economic boom, registering high growth rates in all sectors.

She said boosting bilateral relations between the UAE and Italy in economy and trade continued to be of interest to the UAE's public and private sectors.
