SINGAPORE - The services sector tops the list of job vacancies in Singapore, followed by manufacturing and construction, a manpower ministry report said on Wednesday.
As of September, 35,500 jobs were unfilled, 19 per cent higher than the 29,900 a year ago.
In a breakdown, the Jobs in Demand report said there were 25,158 vacancies in the services industry. Of these, 6,448 vacancies were in the community, social and personal services sector.
Of the 2,200 workers needed for hotels and restaurants, 787 were for waiters and 340 for cooks.
Some 220 cabin attendants and stewards were needed for the aviation industry.
As for professionals, vacancies were available for 566 software engineers, 187 accountants and 298 systems designers and analysts.
Seventy-two vacancies were for senior government and statutory board officials, the report said.
