SBP grants licence to Barclays to start operations in Pakistan

KARACHI — The State Bank of Pakistan (SBP), has granted licence to one of world's top banking groups, Barclays Bank, to start operations in this country, SBP Governor, Dr. Shamshad Akhtar, announced yesterday.

Barclays Pakistan, will initially start operations with an authorised capital of $100 million with ten branches in all major cities of the country.

The Pakistan operation of the bank will be headed by Ahmed Khizar Khan.
