The forum will be held in Jeddah September 18 to 20 under the auspices of the Higher Tourism Commission, the Council of Saudi Chambers of Commerce and Industry and the Islamic Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

The agency quoted the Secretary General of the Council of the Saudi Chambers of Commerce and Industry, Fahd bin Salih al Sultan, as saying he hoped that the forum would boost Muslim tourism.

“The forum aims at adopting an effective strategy for promotion of the tourism market at the level of the Muslim countries,” he said, noting that the participants of the forum will explore means of facilitating tourism integration among the Muslim countries.

“The organization of the forum in Saudi Arabia will provide a good opportunity to shed light on the Saudi tourism as well as son the statutes and regulations pertaining to pilgrimage,” he added.

Saudi Arabia is trying to promote a family-based tourism industry that conforms with its strict interpretation of Islam. The OIC is the largest Muslim political group and its made up of 57 member states.
