Sana tames hostile conditions for title

DUBAI - Sana Tufail, the 15-year-old golf prodigy from Abu Dhabi, continued her campaign to be crowned the EGF Order of Merit Champion by winning her sixth successive Ladies Order of Merit Event of the season at the Dubai Creek Golf & Yacht Club. Sana, who plays off a +2 handicap, hit a conclusive gross score of 74 in a gale force conditions which prevailed throughout her early morning round.

The youngster showed a maturity beyond her years when dealing with the hostile playing conditions. While the weather forecasters advised the public to stay in doors, Sana was determined to tame the championship course with the wind and water battering the shores of Dubai Creek. By winning the trophy, Sana, a student at the British School Al Khubairat in Abu Dhabi, is in the illustrious company of previous title holders Felicity Johnson and Rachel Cassidy who have both graduated to the Ladies European Tour.

Sana thanked the hosts in her acceptance speech “for the fantastic course condition.
