Samsung to continue to grow in Mideast market

ISTANBUL - Samsung, one of the leading IT, electronics and mobile phone companies in the Middle East yesterday pledged to continue to grow its business in the region and provide an even wider range of products.

The company is holding its annual meeting for staff dealers and more than 500 international journalists in Istanbul and Jong-Yong Yun, Vice Chairman and CEO of Samsung Electronics, said the company had chosen Instanbul as it was the gateway between Europe and the Middle east, which were two crucial regions for the company.

The world's fastest growing brand is showcasing its portfolio of products in the wonderful surroundings of Istanbul this week . In his presentation to the show, Mr Jong-Yong Yun, Vice Chairman , showed how Samsung had achieved continuing profitability as well as dramatic growth in brand value to establish the Korean electronics giant at the forefront of the industry.

The event featured presentations by top Samsung executives, and an opportunity for those attending to witness at first hand the company's impressive product range. Samsung's latest offerings in mobile handsets, digital TVs and home entertainment were also unveiled during the event.

The company's determination to become the leader in the Digital Convergence Revolution was outlined in Mr Yun's opening speech. One significant announcement was the restructuring of the business portfolio into four strategic business areas: Digitall Home, Digitall Office, Digitall Mobile and Digitall Component. Mr Yun also revealed the key businesses within the four strategic business areas: home networking, EV-DO wireless network products, the Infomobile exchange system for wired and wireless business communication, and the 533 MHz mobile CPU.

Samsung's commitment to the investment in people and technology was confirmed by Mr Yun to ensure that the company would continue to keep pace with market driven change. Mr Yun said: "Business entities cannot survive without innovation as they face numerous changes and uncertainty. Samsung will continue to create solutions that vitalize and enrich your lifestyle. Technology spawns the future; people are key to technology."

Eric Kim, Executive Vice-President of Samsung's Global Marketing Operations and Digital Solution Center, underlined the company's determination to remain the world's leading brand during the product reveal session: "I am convinced that Samsung is the right company, doing the right things, to meet customer needs. Today - and in the future - Samsung's Digital Convergence vision will deliver the solutions to the way people want to live their lives."
