Tenants can renew their leasing contract electronically from June 1, the Ajman Municipality said on Wednesday.

Speaking to Khaleej Times, Amar Abdul Kareem Kaed, director of rental regulatory department, said that the municipality under the direct guidance of Sheikh Rashid bin Humaid Al Nuaimi, chairman of Sharjah Municipality and planning department, is also keen to employ artificial intelligence in all fields.

Al Kaed added that the e-renewal service is available for both residential and commercial contracts, which allows tenants to renew their contracts in less than a minute after providing the necessary data online.

However, to avail of the service tenants should not alter the existing contract, including the lease amount and date of commencement and termination of the contract.

Al Kaed said that the new service is characterised by accuracy, simplicity of use and flexibility of procedures, adding that the department staff have intensified their efforts to implement the system.

Issa Al Mulla, head of the rental contracts department, said that the e-renewal will enable the tenants to complete all procedures without visiting the services centres at any time with absolute ease.

The first quarter of the year witnessed renewal of 19,698 residential contracts in Ajman.

Al Mulla added that the new system will help employees to avoid following up each contract manually, as renewal can be done automatically after confirming all the data online.
