Qatar officials start snap inspection at work sites

DOHA — Officials from the Labour Department at Qatar's Ministry of Civil Service Affairs and Housing have begun a series of snap inspections at work sites, company premises and accommodation including labour camps to ensure compliance with health and safety standards.

Reminders have been issued by the department in recent weeks regarding medical facilities for workers on site and in labour camps: there must be one first aid kit, readily accessible, for every 25 workers; Companies with between 100 and 500 workers have to have a male nurse on duty and if a company has more than 500 employees, then it has to establish its own clinic with a full-time doctor and nurse.
