Mr Essa Kazim, co-ordinator general of DQA and director-general of Dubai Financial Market and Dr Lway Nackasha, adviser, (quality and business excellence), Department of Economic Development (DED) attended the meeting on behalf of the DED.
Dr Al Attiyah confirmed that the Qatari Ministry of Economy and Trade aims to set up the Qatar Business Quality Awards as a major step towards upgrading and enhancing its various economic sectors, through incorporating the concepts of quality and business excellence. He asserted that the objective of his visit was to examine the DQA model and discuss areas of co-operation with the DED.
"We are delighted that the Qatari Ministry of Economy and Trade has chosen to review the DQA model and explore ways in which it can be transformed to suit the Qatari economic sector," said Mr. Essa Kazim. "Dr Al Attiyah praised the DQA model and the high standard of business excellence that it aims to achieve," he said.
"We would like to reaffirm our commitment to assisting the Qatari Ministry to set up the Qatar Quality Awards and have already discussed ways in which we can facilitate the sharing of expertise and information between the two states," he added.
The DED officials discussed the step-by-step implementation of the DQA model and the award process with Dr Al Attiyah, explaining the various issues and challenges faced during the implementation.
