The UAE’s Ministry of Economy and Tourism on Sunday warned that it would not tolerate any violations or manipulations that may affect market stability or consumer rights due to the ongoing regional crisis.

Abdullah bin Touq Al Marri, Minister of Economy and Tourism and Chairman of the Higher Committee for Consumer Protection, said “protecting consumer rights in the UAE “is a red line”.

This came during an extensive field tour conducted by the minister of Al Awir Central Vegetable and Fruit Market in Dubai to ensure the availability of sufficient quantities of food products during the current regional crisis, and to confirm that there are no shortages of goods.

During the visit, the minister noted that the daily import volume of fruits and vegetables at Al Awir Market is proceeding normally despite the current regional crisis and the market is also experiencing sufficient availability of food products, reflecting the high level of preparedness of the country's strategic reserves and the stability of supply and sales operations. This ensures that consumer needs are being met without any shortages or impact on prices.

Abdullah bin Touq Al Marri pointed out that the Ministry of Economy and Tourism, in cooperation with economic departments, monitors daily stock levels at suppliers and retail outlets.

It conducts thorough analyses of the sufficiency levels of each essential food commodity to ensure a continuous supply and prevent any potential shortages.
