Under the first MoU — signed by Operations Director — Palm Deira, Abdullah bin Sulayem, and the COO of EHS, Saed Al Awadi — EHS will assume responsibility for construction safety, health and environment protection during the construction phase. The second MoU — signed by Bin Sulayem and Mahmood Amin, CEO of DSS & Group Security at PCFZ — provides for long-term security cover for Palm Deira.
Both EHS and DSS are already involved in providing similar services to Palm Jumeirah, the first of Nakheel's development projects, which also includes Palm Jebel Ali.
Bin Sulayem said, "These MoUs are the first steps towards ensuring total safety and security at Palm Deira. They will grow as our Palm grows."
Palm Deira currently has 31 employees on its payroll, with an additional 500 employed by the project contractor at the site off the Deira coastline.
EHS's Al Awadi said, "The agreement provides a formal framework for collaboration, innovation, demonstration, and preservation of some of Dubai's most valuable environmental assets as well as its workforce."
He said, "We will provide advice and assistance and ensure compliance with the environment, health and safety requirements. For instance, we will work with contractors to make sure no one enters the construction site without wearing adequate safety gear."
