Pakistan Conference in Dubai to Focus on Public-Private Partnerships

DUBAI - A Pakistan Investment and Public Private Partnership Conference is being organised from the platform of Friends of Democratic Pakistan (FoDP) in Dubai on January 26.

The conference, will be co-chaired by Foreign Minister Shaikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahayan, and Foreign Minister of Pakistan Shah Mahmood Qureshi.

The focus of the conference will be on building closer business to business relations among the FoDP countries and Pakistan, as well as explore ways to enhance the business and trade relationship between Pakistan and the UAE, Pakistan’s Ambassador at Large, Javed Malik, said on Wednesday.

The conference will also highlight the business and investment opportunities available in Pakistan.

In addition to the Pakistani Foreign Minister, a high level official delegation would represent Pakistan at the conference, this would include Federal Minister for Investment, Minister of State for Economic Development, as well as Pakistan’s Ambassador at Large,and senior officials and experts from from Ministries of Water and Power, Petroleum and Natural Resources, Privatisation, Agriculture, Health, Board of Investment, National Highway Authority, WAPDA and others. Pakistani officials will also give presentations on the economic outlook of Pakistan as well as various investment opportunities available in Pakistan for the international businessmen.

Since the focus of the conference will be to build public private partnerships as well as enhance the business relationship between Pakistan, various business leaders based in the UAE as well as the region have been invited to take part.

High officials from government of UAE are also expected to take part. Speaking about the conference, Malik who is coordinating some aspects of the conference in addition to various other initiatives focusing on businessand cultural relations for Pakistan said, “The conference will focus on the various business opportunities that Pakistan offers in the field of energy, infrastructure development, agriculture and agro-based industry, social sector, education, health and other areas.

He said, “The government and people of Pakistan are very grateful to the people and the government of UAE for all their long standing support throughout the years, the UAE has played a crucial role in developing the Friends of Democratic Pakistan group and both the experts and high officials meetings were hosted in the UAE. This Public Private Partnership Conference is another example of how Pakistan and UAE are working together in a series of wideranging activities”.
