Oman’s Galfar Engineering Felicitated

MUSCAT — Oman’s largest construction firm, Galfar Engineering and Contracting Company, which employs more than 25,000 people, was felicitated by the country’s top labour official and dignitaries from the public and private sectors, for a unique milestone — completing 15 million man-hours without lost-time injury in Petroleum Development Oman projects.

Manpower Minister Shaikh Abdullah bin Nasser al Bakri presided over the gala ceremony, and those present included PDO Managing Director John Malcolm and top executives of leading design and consultancy companies. Dr P Mohamed Ali, Vice-Chairman and Managing Director of Galfar, underlined the company’s accomplishments in the area of health, safety and environment (HSE) since its inception in 1972, particularly referring to the high percentage of Omani nationals in its 25,000-strong workforce.
