Oman Insurance launches Medlib
DUBAI - Oman Insurance yesterday launched Medlib, the new liability product, which will cover medical malpractice and will be indemnifying the medical providers for legal liabilities incurred to the third parties and the employees.
The new product is available for all the medical providers and professionals in the entire AGCC countries, and is backed up by reinsurance securities enjoying an AA rating by Standard and Poors.
According to some experts, with the massive development in the medical infrastructure planned by Dubai Healthcare City, the need for medical malpractice insurance is likely to be increased tremendously among the medical service providers in the region in general and Dubai in particular. Also on the anvil is the legislation pertaining to medical malpractice insurance, which as and when enacted may make the need for insurance compulsory before a Doctor is allowed to practice in the country.
