Created by Arab investors from Saudi Arabia and the Gulf region, the platform can provide transponder capacity from five satellite locations including the two Middle East hot spots at 26 degrees East co-located with ArabSat, and 7 degrees West co-located with NileSat.

Omar Shoter, Noorsat CEO, said: "We provide customised satellite transmission, Internet and communication services to clients at more favourable and competitive terms than any other provider through a wide range of broadband frequencies with enough capacity to cater to the requirements of regional television broadcasters and telecom operators."

"Building the platform around the hot spot locations covering the Arab world and neighbouring countries means that public and private TV broadcasters have immediate access to all existing satellite TV dishes in the region without the need for viewers to re-align dishes or add any equipment," he added.

Two uplink facilities have been established in Bahrain and Greece to ensure service integrity and quality. More uplink facilities will be established in other Arab countries to meet customer demand.

Noorsat will also start transmission of a digital TV service targeting Arab expatriates in Europe. Carrier agreements are in place to extend the service to the Americas and other continents.

Simultaneously, the platform has capability to provide satellite Internet services to all ISPs, telecom operators and data companies at significantly reduced prices, while additional capacity is available for voice, domestic and VSAT services with an emphasis on addressing the requirements of regional GSM operators.

Headquartered in Manama, Kingdom of Bahrain, Noorsat is the first totally privately owned Arab satellite communications company. Its Arab investors from the Gulf have been active in the media and telecommunications sectors in the region for many years.
