The new note has up-to-date security marks with the overall design and other specification remaining the same as found on the fifty dirham currency notes already in circulation.

The bank said yesterday that the new security features on the note including incorporation of a demetallised filigree foil (Oryx head) surrounded by an interlocking pattern showing the value numerals of the note.

A 'coffee pot and value numerals' design has been incorporated beneath the watermark. The watermark appears in the form of a falcon head on the left side of the note's front and on the right side of its back and becomes visible when the note is viewed against direct light.

This currency note shall be put in circulation as legal tender along with currency notes of the same denomination currently in circulation, with effect from Wednesday (today), a spokesman of the Central Bank of the UAE said.
