Humaid bin Nasser Al Owais, Minister of Water and Electricity and NBD Board Member, received, on behalf of the Al Owais family, an award given to Sultan bin Ali Al Owais, the late Chairman of the NBD.

Also honoured were the banking employees who had completed more than 25 years of service and members of staff from the NBD, the oldest established local bank and a pioneer in the field of Emiratisation since 1963, received the most awards.

This ceremony came just after NBD was awarded the first Dubai Human Development Award (DHDA -2002) in recognition of its efforts to increase the development of UAE nationals. The percentage of UAE nationals in the bank is amongst the highest with close to 30 per cent of its workforce being Emaratis, with all branch managers positions held by the UAE nationals.

Abdullah Mohammed Saleh, Managing Director of NBD, received the award at a special ceremony attended by General Shaikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and the UAE Minister of Defence.

He said: "We intend to keep NBD as the preferred employer for young talented Emaratis interested in pursuing a career in the banking sector."
