The meeting came as divisions grow in Europe over the proposed tariffs
Shannon Norris, project manager for Motexha said: "Despite international concerns we have 1,200 square metres of booked space with exhibitors from 10 countries and have decided to press ahead to give a clear signal to the regional industry that we are firmly behind it and will continue to serve it.
Motexha Spring will be held at the Dubai International Exhibition Centre (DIEC) from April 6-9 and will feature national or industry pavilions representing seven countries.
Norris said: "We have group commitments from Turkey, Cyprus, Brazil, India, China, the UK and Germany.
"Many international exhibitors appreciate that this is a huge and developing market with literally millions of square metres of retail space under development and they want to ensure regional buyers are aware of their new ranges and lines."
And despite the Gulf crisis, Motexha Spring visitor pre-registrations are up on previous years.
He added: "We have received 40 per cent more pre-registrations than last year, which means the numbers of visitors pre-registering are almost on a par with the larger Motexha Autumn 2002 show.
"The pre-registrations have come from throughout the Gulf and it would seem that despite the situation in the region, industry professionals are still prepared to embark on intra-regional travel."
