Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, inaugurated the Gitex Technology Week on Sunday. More than 4,100 firms are participating in the exhibition, with companies from Finland, Georgia, Guatemala, Luxembourg, and Syria exhibiting for the first time.
The exhibition also houses a dedication section for start-ups under the banner of Gitex Future Stars where the young entrepreneurs can share their technologies and also approach different companies and government entities to support their initiatives financially and take their ideas to a practical level or the next stage of growth.
The Vertical Days Conferences at the exhibition will include over 126 speakers and 230 sessions with experts from 8 key industry verticals. It will feature experts from health, retail, smart cities, finance, transport and logistics, education and digital marketing. Among the key speakers will be an address by Amazon.com's chief technology officer Dr. Werner Vogels.
