DUBAI - DTZ Research, produced for Trowers and Hamlins, the international law firm, says that total direct investment by Middle Eastern investors in UK commercial property now stands at e7billion ($12.5billion).
This is more than the entire portfolio of FTSE-100 property giant Hammerson (e5.7billion).
According to DTZ, the international property consultants, Middle Eastern investors spent a record e1.3billion on UK commercial property in 2005 - nearly twice the e721m they invested in 2004.
Trowers and Hamlins, which advises many of the Middle Eastern funds, says that the UK commercial property market is seen as friendly location for investments.Nick Edmondes, Partner, of Trowers and Hamlins said: "There are very low political risks, the market is liquid and UK commercial property can be easily structured into shariah compliant investments."
