The new opening is part of the GCC’s third largest retail chain’s plans to open four more hypermarkets in the largest Arab economy by the end of this year.

The new lifestyle shopping destination ‘Lulu Shopping’ is spread over 100,000 square feet and was inaugurated by Police Chief of Riyadh General Saleh Al Habdan, in Riyadh. The inaugural ceremony was attended by Indian Ambassador to Saudi Arabia Talmiz Ahmad, Emke Group Managing Director Yusuffali MA, Chief Executive Officer Saifee Rupawala, senior government officials, Shaikhs and local businessmen.

The sprawling shopping centre has a huge area dedicated to electronics, IT products, home appliances, sports, stationery. There are dedicated spaces for furnishings, crystals, footwear, health & beauty, cosmetics and perfumes, linen, watches and fashion brands for ladies, gents and childern.

The store has more than 20 cash counters for hassle-free shopping with ample car parking facilities. The new Lulu shopping centre is located in Rabwa, exit 14 of Omar Bin Abdul Aziz Road. “This is our second Lulu store in the Kingdom after Al Khobar and described the country as ‘crucial’ to its expansion drive outside of the UAE, as the second largest Arab economy has an affluent and growing population. “We have to expand aggressively here, as the oil-rich nation is investing in its huge industrial infrastructure that means more jobs and business,” said Yusuffali MA on the occasion of the inauguration.

The group has 32 per cent market share, the largest in the Middle East, according to the London-based market research firm GMRC. “Our immediate plans include the upcoming Mushrif Mall or the Central Fish Market project in Abu Dhabi, besides a shopping mall in Al Ain and Ras Al Khaima in the UAE,” the managing director said.
