Lufthansa rolled back its operations from Pakistan in 1998 will now operate three flights a week on Frankfurt-Karachi-Lahore-Frankfurt route following rapid increase in air traffic in recent months.

Another reason that swayed German carrier to resume flights to Pakistan was PIA's decision to reduce its operations to European destinations due to financial problems and EU restrictions on its ageing Boeing 747s and Airbus A310s.
