Lubna Al Qasimi, Irish minister discuss cooperation ties

ABU DHABI - UAE Trade Minister Shaikha Lubna Al Qasimi discussed at the ministry here today with the Irish Minister of State for Trade and Development Jan O’Sullivan, ways to boost the bilateral cooperation ties, especially in the areas of trade and investment.

They also tackled ways to convene more meetings between the two business communities to explore cooperation opportunities, and boost cooperation between the UAE and Irish companies.

Sheikha Lubna stressed during the meeting that the UAE market has promising opportunities in different sectors, especially in the trade, renewable energy, industry and tourism fields, indicating that non oil foreign trade of the UAE stood at $205 billion last year up by 14 per cent compared to year 2009.

For her part, the Irish minister stressed that her country was keen to develop the bilateral cooperation with the UAE, especially in the area of trade.

The volume of trade between the UAE and Ireland stood at over $312 million last year compared to $298 million in year 2009.
