"We have reached an agreement with Zubair Corporation to take over Zubair Kilpatrick," Larsen & Toubro Oman (LTO) Director-in-Charge A Ramakrishna said.

He added that the new company, whose name is yet to be finalised, would officially come into being on January 1. It will be run by the Indian company as a 65:35 joint venture with Zubair Corporation. "It is a strategic decision... It will supplement and complement LTO's interests," he told a news conference coinciding with the 10th year of operations of LTO, also a 65:35 joint venture between L&T and Zubair.

Ramakrishna said LTO had been one of L&T's fastest growing regional operations in the Middle East.

"LTO has made a long-term commitment to be the best company in construction business in this country and we are proud to be a part of progress — and history — in the Sultanate of Oman," he added. The company, he said, had executed several prestigious projects in the country in the past 10 years.
