Before taking the plunge into an entrepreneurial journey, Carolina Salas-Tapia earned vast experience in managing corporate communications, employee engagement programmes, employee audit, team building and training, and HR strategy.
Back in 2010, while Carolina was pursuing her first job in Dubai, she realised a need for an integrated business solution boutique in the marketplace. She decided to establish a company that specialises in HR consultancy, marketing, communication, event management and digital campaigns.
"The marketing agencies' responses were limited to their expertise and then the corporate marketing team was forced to matchmake several agencies to deliver the full scope. This of course led to a challenging relationship between all agencies during the project considering they were not one team," Carolina, founder and CEO of 6W Agency, explains.
"We offer global experise in all aspects of the business development, marketing and communication, supporting a broad base of functions and industry sectors," she adds. "Our HR consultancy department offers tailored strategy, planning and execution specifically to talent and people work environments. We provide tools, solutions and guidance based in business and people's behaviour bringing intrinsic profitable results."
With over nine years of successful creative development experience, Carolina conceptualises and produces impactful, strategic creative communications solutions and marketing programmes that drive revenue growth and improve corporate reputations. Carolina says that 6W Agency has opened a new physical presence in Chile. "We are providing services to Latin America from Santiago de Chile and our next move is to support UAE brands that want to establish their brands in South America," she says.
She says she considers herself fortunate to start her business in the UAE.
"For the past 47-plus years, the UAE has supported expats to build their business and dreams within this strong, versatile market. The UAE startup ecosystem offers ample opportunities for entrepreneurs and startups to build their business."
Advising young entrepreneurs Carolina says they should follow their dreams with hard work and commitment.
"Being an entrepreneur isn't as fancy as you see it on social media. It requires hard work, understanding of division and task of the business and not just the sides of the business that you like. Keep in mind that you will constantly face a variety of obstacles that constantly evolve, success after success. That is why passion is crucial in order to help you overcome these obstacles. That is the drive that will provide you the commitment to create and build your vision and make it your mission to accomplish it," she emphasises.
Carolina attributes her success to her team members and the flexible business structure of her boutique.
"The success of our agency is based on the people that join it and work for the day-to-day achievements. It is a business structure that provides flexibility and mobility and the current society of experts around the world appreciate this kind of platform that values the current trends and innovative ways of working as well as clients have awarded us with loyalty and appreciation of our boutique and expert work," she says.
"Each of us are owners of our own past, current and future situations. My team is responsible to earn more or less, to work in more projects or less, to be committed or not, to be involved or not."
"My clients own the decision in choosing to work with us, or not to work with us as partners and to value our deliverables according to their aim. Everyone has a choice that will impact the work and reputation of the team and we are responsible of their final call as a team," she concludes.
