Digitrans 2019 honours cream of digital crop

Digital transformation experts and industry pioneers were honoured at the third edition of the 2019 Digital Leader Awards in Dubai on Thursday, co-located with Digitrans 2019.
"Digitrans is an event that has evolved alongside many of the technologies of the Fourth Industrial Revolution. Today, technologies such as artificial intelligence, blockchain and robotics are impacting nearly every aspect of our lives," Yahya Kazi, Director and Group CEO of Galadari Brothers, said.
"The UAE is blessed with visionary leadership that has mandated the use of technologies to improve the lives of its residents. As the country moves towards creating smart cities, it is our responsibility to establish a platform where experts can meet and explore the nature of technologies and their power to improve our lives," he added.
"The Digital Leader Awards are responsible for highlighting the best examples of organisations and individuals that have contributed to the wave of digital transformation that is sweeping the region. We are very pleased with the response that the event has garnered over its three editions and we look forward to an even bigger one in our next edition."
The UAE Ministry of Health and Prevention was awarded the Digital Leader award in the healthcare category, while Emaar, the Dubai Electricity and Water Authority and Mashreq took home the Digital Leader awards in the retail, government services and banking, respectively.
Dr Zeenath Reza Khan of the University of Wollongong in Dubai was named as the Digital Leader in the education category, while Amr Jabr from the Ministry of Education was awarded the Government Digital Leader award. Dr Maher Shirah of the Roads and Transport Authority took home the honour in the transport category, while Krishnan Gopi of Gems Education took home the Disruptive Digital Leader award.
Mohammed AlHashmi of Expo 2020 was named as the Innovation Digital Leader, while Anwaar Al Shimmari of the UAE Ministry of Infrastructure Development was named as the Digital Women Leader. Nitin Bhargava of Mashreq collected the Global Digital Leader award.
Emirates NBD scooped up the Digital Leader award in the enterprise category, while Suvo Sarkar, Emirates NBD's senior executive vice president and head of Retail Banking and Wealth Management was named as the Iconic Digital Leader at the ceremony.
