Visitors to the US Pavilion at Expo 2020 Dubai can experience what it will be like to ride a hyperloop, experts at Virgin Hyperloop One said.

Speaking to Khaleej Times, Ryan Kelly, head of marketing and communications for Virgin Hyperloop One, said that Virgin Hyperloop has been selected by the US Department of State to represent the US at Expo 2020 Dubai, where it will showcase pods that will physically simulate how it would feel to ride a Virgin Hyperloop One system.

This experience, the first its kind, will give participants the chance to interact with the pods, which will resemble the ones that will be used in commercial operations and will demonstrate how it would feel to move people and goods at unprecedented levels of efficiency and speed.

The design plan for the US Pavilion will be based on the theme 'What Moves You' and will feature the power of technological innovation in mobility and diverse commercial opportunity throughout the US with Virgin Hyperloop One as one of the core components.

In addition, DP World, the largest investor in Virgin Hyperloop One and the third-largest port authority in the world, will be featured next to the US Pavilion as the Expo's premier world trade partner. They will build out an exhibit to feature DP World Cargospeed, the cargo brand under Virgin Hyperloop One.

"We are excited to be recognised as the apex of innovation in this field," Kelly said. "Given the three themes of Sustainability, Mobility and Opportunity, that will be highlighted at the event, it is important for us to be there to showcase this technology. The Hyperloop has really captured the imagination of people around the world; for us to be in a city like Dubai, which focuses on innovation and is one of the places where we will see a Hyperloop system being built in the future, is really special."

He also spoke about how interest in the technology had picked up ever since the announcement of DP World Cargospeed. "We have many people coming up and asking us about what it feel like once they are in the pod, how much a ticket for a trip will cost, and how soon it will be ready. First and foremost, we tell them that it will feel nothing like a rollercoaster ride; it will be a super fast, smooth and effortless journey. Our vision is to be the most sustainable and clean method of transportation for both passengers and cargo."
