Jordan announces eco-tourism scheme

DUBAI - Jordan Tourism Board will offer Eco-tourism to all adventurous tourists visiting Jordan. Eco -tourism is established in the 308 square kilometre Dana Nature Reserve where man and nature co-exist in harmony as well as in the Red Sea's stunning underwater environment where fragile ecosystems are protected and preserved.

The country is also an ideal location for watching migratory birds, as it is located at the crossroads of Europe, Africa and Asia. Jordan's national parks and reserves are breeding centres for endangered species and marvellous scenic beauty. Almost all these destinations are easily accessible from Amman - the commercial hub of Jordan, which makes the region an exciting choice for visitors.

Marwan Khoury, managing director of the Jordan Tourism Board (JTB) said: "Eco-tourism is the way of the future and has tremendous potential and at the JTB we are concentrating on promoting this aspect of tourism in the Gulf region. I am confident that with such a diverse choice available for tourists, people will find just the kind of recreation that suits their needs."
