Joel, Aryan take top honours
DUBAI - Joel Neale and Aryan Kumar gave impressive performances to dominate the ninth edition of Dulsco Classic 2012 and emerge this year’s corporate golf champions, beating more than 80 other contestants for the golfing honours, at the prestigious Els Club in Dubai on Thursday.
Playing under windy conditions, Neale landed the longest drive of 340 yards for the 9th hole in Division A, while Division B’s Kumar landed his shot from 328 yards for the 18th hole. Neale and Kumar also topped their own divisions in Individual category at 37 points and 42 points respectively.
The group of Ted Green, Abdel Tazerout, Jason Hunt and Rex Neate compiled 88 points to top the Team category, beating Ashok Galgotia, Sergy D’Souza, John Thomas and Mukti Rai who came close at 85 points. Held at Els Club, the signature golf destination set up by international legend Ernie Els in Dubai Sports City, the golfers teed off in the 1pm shotgun start of the event. The tournament, which was organized by Dulsco for the UAE’s corporate community, included CEOs, corporate executives and decision-makers.
Dulsco Classic, organised by Dulsco, is a highly awaited annual sports event that has been acknowledged not only for connecting the UAE’s corporate community but also furthering regional interest in the sport.
Prakash Mahadalkar, managing director of Dulsco, was happy with the response. “Once again, we have been treated to some of the finest golfing action, partly because of the growing popularity of the sport among top executives in the region,” he said. “The calibre and professionalism of the players prove that Dulsco Classic will continue to attract the best sporting talent from the region and remain a much-awaited calendar event.”
