Jabra to launch four Bluetooth headsets

DUBAI - Jabra, an European net com company which is six months old in Middle East, is all set to get aggressive in launching its four new bluetooth headsets begining June 2004. The company is getting aggressive since it has to make a breakthrough in the market which is already flooded with latest models in handsets as well as headsets.

Vincent Pena, Country Manager, Key and Venture Markets Jabra, said: "The Bluetooth market is very virgin market, we need to educate the masses about the facilities that can be availed due to the blue tooth technology. Usual tendency in the market is to believe that the masses know about blue tooth as a software, which is not true."

Jabra is the first company which has received a permission to launch 1.2 version, currently the blue tooth software operates under 1.1 version and the new addition of 1.2 indicates that new functions would be added to existing blue tooth software. The four headsets are targeted to various sectors such as car, home, business, technology, innovative, professional and consumer. The company's existing portfolio comprises of manufacturing bluetooth headsets for Motorola and Siemens. However in the third quarter of 2004 the company plans to commence its production for manufacturing bluetooth headsets for Samsung. The Jabra's turnover world wide in 2002 was 30 million euros which increased to 80 million euros in 2003. The company is placed its target for total turnover at 150 million euros.

Pena, said: "The total mobile phones market is about 600 million phones out of which 60-90 million phones are bluetooth phones and 10 per cent of these have bluetooth headsets. We believe by 2006 the bluetooth headsets market would touch 40 per cent.
