Maurizio Sella, President of ABI- Italian Banking Association speaking to Khaleej Times said that the Italian businesses are betting on the potential of a market that is expanding rapidly due to a policy of diversification resulting in phenomenal growth.

"To-date 71 per cent of the credit available has been drawn," Sella said. "So, there is scope for financing additional activities and new enterprises. Italian banks are prepared to increase the line of credit depending on firms' needs."

The UAE offers excellent investment opportunities to large, mid-sized and small firms, due to rapid economic modernisation, development policy in such strategic sectors as energy, construction, tourism, infrastructure, incentives for the foreign investors in free zones where they can operate on tax-free with freedom to repatriate the profits.

He said that two Italian banks are already present in the UAE.
