Industry minister to lead Omani team at India-GCC business meet

MUSCAT — Commerce and Industry Minister Maqbool bin Ali Sultan will lead the Omani team at an India-GCC Businessmen's Conference due to open in Mumbai tomorrow.

The two-day conference titled 'Gulf and India Investment Opportunities', will focus on potential for mutual investment in India and the Gulf, particularly in the infrastructure and real estate sectors, and cooperation in the field of energy and petrochemicals.

Participating GCC ministers will hold talks with their Indian counterparts on the sidelines of the meeting which is also expected to result in the signing of a number of MoUs between companies from both sides.

The Omani delegation will include Mohammed bin Yousef Shalwani, ambassador to India, Dr Salim bin Nassir al Ismaili, CEO of the Oman Centre for Investment Promotion and Exports Development (Ociped), and several leading Omani businessmen led by Jameel bin Ali Sultan, head of the Sultanate's co-chairman of the Oman-India Businessmen's Council.
