Indices close flat

DUBAI The UAE stock market mostly remained range bound yesterday and major indices closed flat for the day.

At the DFM there was trading in six shares, five of which were losers, while Shuaa remained unchanged at Dh1.05 on one trade of 2,942 shares.

Dubai Islamic Bank and Tabreed were down five fils each to close at Dh24.55 and Dh9.70 respectively. Dubai National Insurance was dropped 85 fils to Dh16.65, while Emaar fell 10 fils to Dh20.70 and Union Properties finished with losses of 50 fils at Dh21.50.

The total DFM volume for the day was reported at 120,795 shares, valued at over Dh2.08 million.

On the ADSM, Etisalat was up 50 fils to Dh122.50 on a volume of 12,179 shares, which were valued at Dh1.49 million and Qutel finished with gains of Dh2.50 at Dh113.50 on a volume of 3,300 shares. Abu Dhabi Aviation also rose 50 fils to Dh62.50, while Abu Dhabi Shipbuilding dropped 70 fils to Dh28, Al Waha fell two fils to Dh5.53 and Abu Dhabi Islamic Bank finished without changing at Dh16.05.

The National Bank of Abu Dhabi Emirates Stock Markets Index (NBAD ESMI), which tracks the DFM and the ADSM listed shares, was up one point to 1,384.28 as the NBAD ESMI service sector index rose 1.66 points to 1,044.76. The NBAD ESMI banking sector index was down 0.18 points to 1,619.89 and the NBAD ESMI insurance sector index finished with losses of 2.58 points at 1,201.12.

Emirates Financial Services (EFS) listed no movers on the OTC market. Emnex was up 1.39 points to 2,247.02 because of a 4.44 points gain in the telecom sub-index, which closed at 1,153.4. The Islamic sub-index dropped 0.87 points to 970.3 and the property sub-index slipped 6.24 points to 793.08, while both financial and insurance sub-indices remained unchanged for the day.

The NBAD market review reported two movers on the OTC market with Union National Bank rising 50 fils to Dh45 and National Bank of Ras Al Khaimah finishing with gains of Dh1 at Dh34.

The NBAD general index advanced 4.31 points to 3,426.69. The NBAD banking sector index rose 3.98 points to 3,566.65 and the NBAD service sector index went up 6.48 points to 3,984.67. The NBAD insurance sector index declined 3.47 points to 2,691.85.

EFS reported the cumulative market volume at 157,060 shares, which were valued at over Dh4.53 million.
