ICAI holds 22nd Annual Int’l Seminar

DUBAI — The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI), Abu Dhabi Chapter, held its 22nd Annual International Seminar on October 14-15, 2010 at the Armed Forces Officers Club in Abu Dhabi. The seminar was themed ‘Survival of the Fittest’.

M.K Lokesh, Ambassador of India in UAE was the Guest of Honour along with Fatima Al Jaber, Chief Operating Officer, Al Jaber Group. Ahmed bin Ali Al Dhaheri, Chairman of FOODCO was the Chief Guest.

CA Vikas Puri, Chairman of Abu Dhabi Chapter elaborating on the theme of the seminar stated that “the world has gone through turbulent times in the recent years where we have seen a number of businesses collapse and vanish. In this scenario the entities which have survived and done well are not those who are the toughest, swiftest, smartest, fastest or biggest – but those best fitted to their environment (its markets, its customers) and have consequently been able to adapt to the changing environment.”

Technical addresses were delivered by Dr Bharath Chandra, Success Coach and Trainer, CA T N Manoharan, Padmashri Awardee and Past President, ICAI,. Mr Anand Kumar, Maths Wizard – The IIT Coach, Super 30, Dr. Jagdish Seth, Charles H. Kellstadt, Chair of Marketing in the Goizueta B School at Emory University, USA CA Vikram Kotak, Chief Investment Officer, Birla Sunlife Insurance Company Limited and Mr K. R. Lakshminarayana (LAN), Chief Strategy Officer, WIPRO. The Seminar deliberated on several burning issues affecting the corporate world including “Corporate Governance and Corporate fraud – lessons from the Satyam Scandal”, “Mergers and Acquisitions – the WIPRO perspective”, “Why Good Companies Fail” and “Secrets of Success” . —business@khaleejtimes.com
