Ahmad Humaid Al Mazrouie, Acting Director-General of General Exhibitions Corporation (GEC), told a news conference in the capital yesterday that the event will capture the moods of time-honoured pursuits of the people of the country and the sporting spirit it embodies, while stressing the importance of preserving wildlife and habitat.

"The event will represent the importance and recognition accorded by the President His Highness Shaikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan whose efforts have brought many adventure shows such as falconry, horse racing and fishing," Mr Al Mazrouie said.

Visitors can gain knowledge on many traditional hunting tools and equipment and the art of using them and many facets of the world of adventure. One of the aims is to educate people on the traditional sports and contribute to its preservation.

The exhibition, the first of its kind to be held in Abu Dhabi, will be spread over an area of 7,500 sq.m., hosting some 100 to 150 companies from the local, regional and international arena, while over 20,000 visitors are expected.

The exhibition is jointly organised by the GEC and the Emirates Falconers' Club (EFC).
