Widely acknowledged as the pre-eminent expert on corporate governance and with over 25 years of financial and governance experience, Richard C. Breeden, the chairman of Breeden Partners and former Chairman of the US Securities and Exchange Commission, provided the Keynote Address.
“Compliance with best corporate governance practice has now become a fact of life,” Breeden said, emphasising the importance of high standards in corporate governance to the regional economy and its global competitiveness.
“We are thrilled to have had Breeden deliver the keynote address at the Workshop,” BDI founding executive director Dr Abdullah Al Abdulgader said.
The workshop, the second hosted by Emirates NBD, is the twelfth in a series of BDI conducted workshops on corporate governance. The workshop was attended by board directors and CEOs from leading corporate entities and institutions in the region, including Emirates National Oil Company, Ma’aden and Kuwait Petroleum Company.
“There is strong evidence that good corporate governance is critical to a corporation’s goal of creating long-term value for all stakeholders,” Emirates NBD group CEO Rick Pudner said.
