The company, which opened its new marketing office at Dubai Airport Free Zone yesterday, will initially invest $2 million in an assembling unit in Dubai and depending on the response to its products from the AGCC market will establish its manufacturing facility in the emirate to cater to the whole Middle East region, Anil Gupta, director, Havell's India Ltd, disclosed.

He said the company, which started to sell its products in the UAE a couple of years ago, recorded $500,000 in sales last year, which prompted the company to open its regional hub in Dubai. In the next six to nine months, the company will also have a warehousing facility to keep stocks of its products for the Gulf market, which is valued at $4 million annually.

"Once we start our assembling unit and build up the volumes, we will go for a full scale manufacturing plant here," he said, adding that initially only building circuit protection products will be sold in this market, while later fans and lighting products will be also introduced.

He also said that in order to cater to the huge demand for its products from the Middle East region, Havell's has tied up with a large number of regional business groups, adding that the company is one of the first Asian electrical equipment majors to create a direct presence in the Middle East on a large scale.
