"The DWTC is constantly seeking out new avenues to create increased awareness about its new convention centre and thereby generate more interest and eventually attract more meetings and conventions to Dubai," said DWTC Assistant General Manager (Acting), Abdulla T Qassem.

The event has been organised by the Dubai Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing (DTCM) inviting participants from the emirate's public and private sector to showcase Dubai's attractions. The DTCM's Germany office invited key decision makers from the German travel trade to network, gather information on the destination and conduct business with the Dubai contingent at the event.

Speaking to travel trade professionals, Qassem remarked, "The DWTC has been at the forefront of the exhibition business in the Middle East for more than two decades and the DICC which forms a rational progression of our business offers an even broader range of unique venues, function room options and facilities for planners than many established convention centres around the world."

The nearly eight-minute video that was played on a giant plasma screen TV incorporated extensive footage of Dubai, the DWTC and all its lines of business, as well as exclusive footage of the DICC including the multipurpose hall and the concourse. A 60-second animation clip simulates the various configurations in which the hall can be set up. Also, CDs in SVCD and Mpeg1 format were distributed to the German travel professionals.

He noted that the DWTC had also participated at the IMEX exhibition in Frankfurt in April to promote the DICC to a high-profile target audience comprising 2,000 exhibitors representing 100 countries as well as around 2,500 hosted buyers from key markets.
