Managed by Fairs and Exhibitions (F&E), the name behind the Dubai air show, the island-style 50 square metre pavilion - the first from the region at an international aerospace exhibition - will promote the region's aerospace and aviation industry to the international market.

Alison Weller, Project Manager, Aerospace Division, F&E, said the response from leading aerospace industry players has been very good, and she expected to have an expanded pavilion, if the number of exhibitors would go up from the initial six at the Farnborough air show in July 2004.

"Currently the only shows that most Middle East aerospace and aviation companies promote their products and services at are either IDEX in Abu Dhabi, or the air show in Dubai," said Weller.

"This initiative is a cost-effective option for the growing indigenous aviation industry within the Middle East to have an international share of voice and build the region's profile within this important segment."

Weller said the Middle East pavilion would make it easier for individual companies to take part in international industry events. "It will take away the organisational woes and make the experience more affordable.

F&E says following the Farnborough experience, the pavilion initiative could lead to similar Middle East arenas at other leading air shows, including Singapore, Paris, China, Africa and Australia. The pavilion could also be seen at market-related events such as the European Business Aviation Conference and Exhibition (EBACE) in Geneva, the National Business Aircraft Association meeting in the USA and the Air Traffic Control exhibition in the Netherlands.
