Etisalat to sponsor eighth ATIF in Oman

ABU DHABI — Emirates Telecommunications Corporation — Etisalat — announced that it has signed on as the gold sponsor of the 8th Arab Telecom and Internet Forum (ATIF), which is being held in Muscat, Oman, on May 24-25, under the patronage of Shaikh Mohammed bin Abdulla Al Harthy, Omani Minister of Transport and Communications.

The event, organised by Al Iqtissad Wal-Aamal Group, covers during its two day sessions various current issues related to Arab telecom and Internet sectors such as the state of competition in the Arab world, developing national telecom strategy, investment activities and cross boarder movements, broadband development and future growth potentials, wireless technologies and mobility, challenges facing CEOs in the new phase of market development, the next generation in satellite communications, and the role of regulatory in developing ICT in the Arab world.

Mohammed Hassan Omran, Chairman of Etisalat, addressed in his speech, titled "the future prospects beyond expansion", many forecast trends in the Arab telecom world such as more expansions by local providers, more mergers of providers, and more partnerships in the telecom sector to enter new markets.
