Etisalat is set to offer latest in 3G services

DUBAI — In yet another attempt to attract customers to 3G services Etisalat is now trying to explore new options to hook the customers by offering latest on 3G services.

The company is all set this year to offer new 3G services to its customers with value added features and feasibility studies for the same are being conducted right now, in UAE, said Mohammed Al Fahim, executive vice president, Marketing, Etisalat.

Al Fahim said: "The 3G service is essentially a high speed wireless internet enhanced capability and we are in to fact finding as to what would really appeal the customers inorder to offer them cost effective high technology which would boost the off take of the 3G handesets. This could mean upgraded content, Multi Media Messaging Services (MMS) and many more features are lined up to woo customers with latest features.The existing arrangement between Etisalat and Motorola saw a very limited off take last year and even so far the results are not very encouraging."

Meanwhile, etisalat yesterday launched NAJM to introduce mobile services tailored to specific customer needs. The NAJM, is a postpaid mobile package designed for Etisalat's premium customers. The launch was announced by Mohammad Hassan Omran, Etisalat, chief executive officer and Mohammed Al Fahim, executive vice president, Marketing, Etisalat.

Omran said: " Under the NAJM package customers will be able to select a plan tailored to their calling needs. NAJM customers may choose among three minute-based calling plans. The first plan offers, 500 local minutes and 50 local SMS for Dh 120 Dhs per month , followed by second plan of 1000 local minutes and 100 local SMS for Dh 230 per month and third option is of 2000 local minutes and 200 local SMS for Dh 450 per month. Each plan includes subscriptions to MMS, AL Mersal Voice Mail, and Call Waiting services. Customers also have the option to purchase additional bundles of SMS and to rent VIP numbers for a monthly fee. Al Fahim said: "NAJM customers will have the option to select their own VIP number for an additional monthly rental. VIP numbers will be classified as Platinum, Gold, or Silver with a different monthly rental for each classification.
