Etisalat gain a boost for indexes

DUBAI Gains in Etisalat helped major indices move up yesterday.

At the DFM there was trading on three counters with Tabreed going down five fils to close at Dh9.75 and Emaar falling 20 fils to Dh21 on 17 trades of 62,063 shares, valued at Dh1.3 million. Mashreqbank remained unchanged at Dh690 on one trade of 1,350 shares.

The total DFM volume was reported at 71,023 shares, valued at over Dh2.3 million.

On the ADSM, Abu Dhabi Commercial Bank advanced 10 fils to Dh55.50, while Al Wathba Insurance rose 15 fils to Dh3.15 on a volume of 248,500 shares, Abu Dhabi Aviation appreciated Dh1.40 to Dh62.40, Abu Dhabi Islamic Bank increased five fils to Dh16.10 and Etisalat finished with gains of Dh1 at Dh121 on a volume of 12,340 shares, which were valued at over Dh1.49 million.

Abu Dhabi National Hotel declined 90 fils to Dh87.10 on a volume of 18,301 shares, which were value at over Dh1.59 million and First Gulf Bank closed with losses of three fils at Dh5.15 on a volume of 8,120 shares. Al Waha remained unchanged for the day.

The National Bank of Abu Dhabi Emirates Stock Markets Index (NBAD ESMI), which tracks the DFM and the ADSM listed shares, advanced 3.52 points to 1,375.74. The NBAD ESMI banking sector index was up 0.21 points to 1,607.57, while the NBAD ESMI service sector index rose 4.82 points to 1,039.24 and the NBAD ESMI insurance sector index finished with gains of 4.56 points at 1,203.7.

Emirates Financial Services (EFS) reported no movers on the OTC market. Emnex advanced 4.41 points to 2,235.62 mostly because of an 8.87 points gain in the telecom sub-index, which closed at 1,140.09.

The financial services sub-index advanced 0.05 points to 2,537.7 and the Islamic sub-index rose 0.87 points to 973.92. The property sub-index declined 5.65 points to 801.56 and the insurance sub-index remained unchanged at 1,314.53.

The NBAD market review reported two movers on the OTC market with National Bank of Sharjah rising 15 fils to Dh7.75 and Union Insurance dropping 25 fils to Dh8.50.

The NBAD general index was up 8.24 points to 3,405.65. The NBAD banking sector index rose 1.7 points to 3,540.89, while the NBAD service sector index advanced 18.83 points to 3,963.06 and the NBAD insurance sector index closed with gains of 6.12 points at 2,695.32.

EFS reported cumulative market volume at 381,732 shares, valued at over Dh7.08 million.
