The process will enable subscribers to move seamlessly between both 3G network and 4G network that Etisalat launched last year.

Etisalat also announced the completion of the technology trial for network upgrading and voice services that will be introduced using CS Fallback technology. This will enable subscribers to move between LTE and HSPA+ automatically.

However, optimising this speed requires compatible peripherals. Saeed Al Zarouni, senior vice-president-Mobile Networks, Etisalat, expected the devices to be available during the second half of the current year, based on initial reports provided by global device manufacturers.

The move to test new network technology is part of the Corporation’s efforts to upgrade telecommunications services to meet its customers’ demand for high speed networks that support software, data and applications on their mobile phones, he said.

Although the LTE network was launched in September 2011, Etisalat continues to develop its 3G network to achieve best-in-class speed and ensure the availability of the best technological solution to its customers.
