Esca, UK's SII sign MoU to provide training shemes

ABU DHABI — Brokers and investors on financial markets will undergo professional training under a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed yesterday by the Emirates Securities and Commodities Authority (ESCA) and the UK's Securities & Investment Institute (SII).

The memo, inked by ESCA's Chief Executive Abdullah Al Turaifi and Institute's Director General Roth Martin, calls for imparting training to brokers and those interested in financial markets.

According to the agreement, the UK Institute will in a later stage oversee operation of a centre for brokers' training. The MoU gives the Institute the right to establish a representative office at ESCA's premises in Dubai. The MoU makes its mandatory for ESCA to adopt code of conduct and professional accredition by the UK Institute which embodies a series of principles seeking to ensure adequate performance, transparency and equal treatment in financial services market.
