Wetex gets greener and smarter

Dubai - Exhibition ti feature local players, entities showcasing innovative projects and latest tech related to energy, water, environment and green development

The Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (Dewa) announced the participation of 55 countries in the 21st edition of the Water, Energy, Technology and Environment Exhibition (Wetex 2019) and the fourth Dubai Solar Show, the region's largest solar energy expo.
Wetex is organised by Dewa and is under the directives of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, and under the patronage of Sheikh Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai, Minister of Finance and President of Dewa.
The two exhibitions will be held from October 21-23 at the Dubai International Convention and Exhibition Centre.
"Widespread international participation at the 21st edition of the exhibition underscores the high confidence in Wetex as a strategic platform to explore fruitful collaboration between local and global leaders," said Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, managing director and CEO of Dewa and founder and chairman of Wetex.
"We look forward with confidence and optimism to the current edition of Wetex, which will see the launch of a range of cutting-edge smart innovations for the first time in the region, as well as the results of key research and development efforts that will contribute to finding viable solutions to the challenges of energy and water conservation and environmental sustainability."
Wetex and Solar Show be held under the umbrella of Green Week, which aims to raise awareness on the importance of rationalisation of energy and water consumption and to promote a culture of environmental sustainability and conservation. It will also inform younger generations about the importance of rationalisation of electricity and water and the conservation of natural resources; motivating them to innovate new solutions that support the transformation towards a green economy.
The exhibition will feature local players and entities showcasing their innovative projects and latest technologies related to the energy, water, environment and green development sectors. This will include a wide range of smart solutions in the fields of renewable energy and water, sustainability solutions and rationalisation of consumption.
Leading companies and entities such as the Abu Dhabi's Department of Energy, Dubai Roads and Transport Authority, ABB, Acwa Power, Siemens, Emirates National Oil Company, Ghantoot Gulf Contracting, Ducab, Future Pipe Industries and Diamond Developers have confirmed their participation.
Seven countries - Russia, Japan, Singapore, Brazil, Chile, Ireland and Poland - are participating in Wetex for the first time.
Dewa also announced the participation of 102 and eight Chinese companies in Wetex and Solar Show, respectively.
"Dewa has partnered with many Chinese companies in the fields of energy, who are participating in our projects. China's extensive participation in Wetex is of paramount importance as they are the world's largest investor in renewable energy," Al Tayer added.
