A memorandum of understanding to build the hotel has been signed between Shaikh Suleiman Mohammed Al Yahyai, a leading Omani businessman, and Shaikh Mohammed bin Faisal Al Qassimi of Faisal Holding.

The deal for the 200-room hotel comes close on the heel of the announcement of the creation of the brand. Ecos Hotels is a 2-star budget chain being developed by Coral International Hotels, Resorts & Spas.

"We are delighted to welcome Ecos Hotels in Oman. It will be a major player in the budget sector. Our intention is to offer something unique and trendy at affordable rates," Shaikh Suleiman said.

"There's an urgent need to address the soaring demand for budget hotels in not just the UAE but the entire Middle East and we hope to lead the way with Ecos Hotels," said Shaikh Mohammed, chairman and CEO, Manafa LLC and vice-chairman, Coral International Hotels, Resorts & Spas.
