"ATM will provide the ideal stage for us to bring co-participants, trade visitors and the regional and international media covering the event, up to date with the developments of this new world-class facility to be managed by us," said DWTC Director General, Mubarak bin Fahad.
He noted that the DWTC would highlight the flexibility of the new multipurpose hall, one of the salient features of the new facility during ATM. The DICC will offer more than 10,000 square metres of prime meeting space and have the capacity to accommodate up to 12,000 delegates.
"The DICC characterises the natural succession of DWTC's business and growth and is carefully planned to provide momentum to Dubai's status as an emerging destination for the meetings, incentives, conferences and exhibitions," Mr bin Fahad said. The new facility is big enough to accommodate events with up to 12,000 delegates and its main multipurpose hall has the capacity to hold from 600 to 6000 delegates. When set as an auditorium, for the maximum capacity, it will feature 2,500 retractable seats in a tiered setting and an additional 2,000 seats on the flat.
The new Convention Centre is the venue for the 58th annual general meetings of the Boards of Governors of the World Bank and the IMF to be held in September.
"The DICC has the distinct advantage that it is backed by the professional expertise of the DWTC, one of the most enduring brands in the UAE, which has been operating in the Middle East region for more than two decades and has significant capability and experience in the coordination and management of international exhibitions and events," Mr bin Fahad said.
The premier inbound and outbound travel and tourism event dedicated to the Middle East region, ATM attracts participants from airlines, car rental companies, conference/incentive/meeting venues, cruise line/ferry companies, ground handlers, health spas and resorts, hotels/accommodation providers, Internet support services, reservation systems, specialist interest holidays, technology and telecommunications, tourist attractions, tourist boards/associations, tour operators, transport: air, road, rail, shipping, travel agencies and other travel related services.
