More than 600 participants are expected to attend the week's events, which are being held under the Patronage of General Shaikh Mohammed bin Rashid al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and UAE Minister of Defence and hosted by the Emirates National Oil Company Ltd (ENOC) LLC.
A total of five different events are planned. These include the annual Middle East Petroleum & Gas Conference (MPGC 2003) on September 7 to 9, and four other events covering such specialist areas as key strategies for the upstream and downstream sectors, petroleum fiscal systems, Gas and LNG (MEGas 2003) and lubricants (LUBES 2003).
MPGC 2003 is the week's flagship event and the Middle East's most internationally acclaimed oil conference, being held in Dubai for the fourth time in its eleven-year history. MPGC 2003 will be the region's first oil conference after the war to address issues relating to the re-emergence of Iraq's oil industry, prospects for the production of Iraqi oil in the short term and in the next 3-5 years, possible destinations for Iraq's exports and prospects for reconstruction of the Iraqi refining industry. A senior level Iraqi delegation led by Thamir Al Ghadhban, CEO in the Ministry of Oil, Iraq is expected to attend.
Others addressing MPGC 2003 include, Peter Robertson, Vice-Chairman of ChevronTexaco Corporation, Dr Alvaro Silva-Calderon, Secretary General of the Organisation of Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) and Claude Mandil, Executive-Director of the Paris based International Energy Agency (IEA).
